Is FSSAI License required for utensils/packaging material used for serving or packaging of food?

No, not required. Utensils/packaging materials are not covered under the definition of food as per Section 3(n) of FSS Act, 2006 – so FSSAI License/Registration is not required.

A Central License is required for the Registered Office or Head Office for a Food Business Operator (FBO) operating a food business premises located in two or more than two States – this is in addition to license/registration for each unit/premise. Manufacturers of Milk and Milk products should submit Half-yearly returns in form D2 within one month of completion of previous half-year. When should I get the FSSAI License renewed?

The FBO (Food Business Operator) requires filing a renewal application within 30 days before the expiry of the license. The renewal application filed after the expiry of 30 days will attract a penalty of Rs. 100/- per day till the submission of the renewal application. The renewal option will be available to FBO 120 days prior to the expiry of the valid license.

If I need to send a very little consignment outside India, can I go ahead with a Basic or State license as per the turnover of the business?
